The village located directly on the border of N.P. Sierra Nevada has derived its name from Latin Pampinus, but the major splendor lived during the Nasrid dynasty when the production of silk brought importance and richness around Las Alpujarras and whole Kingdom of Granada.

Pampaneira, together with villages around the river Poqueira Bubión and Capileira, was declared Historic-Artistic Site of Poqueira Gorge.

Tiny streets with water channels, chimneys, small shops and restaurants hidden around make this place pretty outstanding and unique creating special rush of mountainous village full of life.
