Profile: Dry, Medium-full bodied, Medium tannins, Medium acidity, High alcohol content, Deep red color.
Aromas: Spicy – cinnamon and anise, Berries, Leather, Honey, Blackcurrant, Orange rind. (All this may vary according to the region).
Main Regions: Aragón (D.O. Carinena, D.O. Campo de Borja)
Other Regions: D.O.Ca. Priorat, D.O.Ca. La Rioja – blending partner of Tempranillo. Immense areas of Garnacha are in south of France around Rhone Valley, Languedoc-Roussillon or Chatenauf-du-Pape.
Even widely used in Sardinia, Australia or U.S.A. (California).
Blending: Blended very often with Tempranillo in D.O.Ca. La Rioja, Mono-varietal wines are common in Aragón and France.
