The first Andalusian Nature Parque protecting maritime-terrestrial ecosystem of the volcanic origin. 63 KM of cliffs, lava flows, volcanic rock formations, calderas and volcanic seabed.
One of the most arid landscapes in Europe preserving geological, ecological, historical and anthropological legacy recognized UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1997.

Although semi-arid with lack of fertile soil by surprise there can be found large number of species
- More than 1000 plants with many endemic flowers like “Dragoncillo del Cabo” – pink Snapdragon.
- Between aquatic plants, the “Posidonia Oceánica” – Neptune Grass, a Mediterranean endemic highly appreciated due to its high carbon absorption ability.
- More that 1100 species of fauna.

Guided Tours: None, self-guided trips around. Many beaches are within walking distance from main car parks.
Salinas de Cabo de Gata: 400 ha of unique salt flats within eastern Andalucía. Harvesting salt already during the Roman Times actually being romantic during sunset this place is important for migratory birds as a resting place during the journey to Africa and back.
There were over 100 bird species counted.
