Albariño

Spanish Albariño Grape
Grape variety originally from Galicia, exactly “Pontevedra Region”. Takes up on 6.380 ha (2022). Known as “Alvarinho.

Description: Smaller grape bunch, Compact with yellow color, Fertile grape, Late ripening, Less resistant to dry conditions.

Profile: Dry, Low tannins, Light-Body, High acidity, Higher sugar content.

Aromas: Intense aromas of Lemon, Grapefruit and Nectarine, Flower aroma of Jasmin.

Main Regions: Widely planted in Galicia especially in D.O. Rías Baixas, northwest of Spain where is native.

Other Regions: Often cultivated in Castilla León, Cantabria or Catalonia. In Portugal is known as Alvarinho cultivated in Moncao and Melgaco Regions.

Even in U.S.A. are regions where Albariño is produced: Napa Valley or Clarksburg and in Oregon around Umpqua Valley AVA.

Blending: Mostly produced mono-varietal wines.
